Barze Addresses IADC International Corporate Counsel College

BTNL founding partner Bruce Barze spoke at the 2022 International Corporate Counsel College (ICCC) in Vienna, Austria on October 14, 2022. The ICCC is an annual program presented by the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) that brings in-house counsel and their law firm counterparts together to address the latest legal issues affecting global companies.

Barze spoke on a panel entitled, “See ‘EU’ On The Other Side — The Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework Renewed.” The other panelists were Timothy LaTulippe, Director of IDS Inc. in London, England; Cecilia Alvarez, EMEA Privacy Policy Director for Meta, Madrid, Spain; and Eleonor Duhs, a partner at Bates Wells LLP in London, England.

The panel discussed the state of European data privacy laws generally, potential forthcoming changes to UK laws, and the tension between American rules of civil procedure and European data privacy laws.

Barze, whose practice includes assisting European insurers and companies in the defense of U.S. litigation and insurance coverage issues, discussed recent rulings and best practices for European companies facing litigation and discovery requests in American lawsuits.

The IADC has been serving a distinguished membership of corporate and insurance defense attorneys and insurance executives since 1920. Its activities benefit the approximately 2,500 invitation-only, peer reviewed members and their clients, as well as the civil justice system and the legal profession.
